Leslie K. Howell is a collaborative divorce lawyer and family law mediator in Pasadena, California and the greater Los Angeles area. She was admitted into the State Bar of California in 2001 and has been practicing family law since, including divorce, child custody, child support, spousal support and community property issues.

Robert L. Howell is a dependency and family law attorney who graduated from the SCALE program at Southwestern University School of Law in 2004 and was admitted to the State Bar of California in 2004. He attended law school specifically to practice in the areas of dependency and family law. While attending law school, he externed for three months with the presiding judge of the juvenile court, Judge Michael Nash. After passing the bar, he practiced family law for two years with a small Pasadena firm. In 2006 he joined the non-profit Los Angeles Dependency Lawyers, representing parents in dependency court.
Before returning to school to practice law, Robert was a tenured professor at Los Angeles City College, where he headed the Technical Theatre and Design Program. He has also taught at UC Irvine, Stanford University, Whittier College, California State College San Bernardino and Bucknell University.
Recently, Robert was part of a team of lawyers representing the Marshall family in a civil rights law suit against the County of Los Angeles and the Department of Children and Family Services. The result of that lawsuit was a $220,000 settlement for the clients. Click here for more information.
Robert brings a wealth of personal experience to his practice of law, including dealing with the issue of educational rights for children who suffer physical, emotional or psychological problems that impair their ability to get a quality education.
P.R.I.D.E. - Concerned about the state of the law and how the law treats parents in Dependency Court, Robert has formed a new organization, Parent’s Rights in Dependency & Education. The goal of this new entity is to educate parents as to their rights in Dependency Court, help parents to get access in their local school district to services for their child and to present legislation modifying Welfare & Institutions Codes in favor of parents.
Robert is available for presentations on the following topics: What to do when DCFS knocks on your door.; What are your rights when you have been given notice to appear in dependency court.; What you need to know about the IEP (Individual Education Plan) process for your child.
