In mediation, there is a neutral mediator who helps parties identify and resolve their concerns amicably. Privately hired mediators do not report any mediation discussions to the judge. However, in some counties (excluding Los Angeles County), court-ordered mediation may be reportable - that is, if the case is not resolved, the mediator will make a recommendation as to what orders the court should make.

People choose to mediate their cases for a variety of reasons. For instance, divorce and family law mediation is typically less expensive than litigation. In addition, mediation resolves family law cases much faster than going to trial. Moreover, parties to family law cases are typically able to communicate better during and after the resolution of their case. Parties can mediate their cases with or without an attorney representing them.

Located in Pasadena and serving the communities throughout the San Gabriel Valley, San Fernando Valley, Inland Empire and Los Angeles areas, the Law Offices of Howell & Howell provides mediation services for individuals and their attorneys in family law and divorce matters.

Leslie Howell is a volunteer mediator in the Burbank courts and has a reputation for fairness and impartiality. Her independence allows her to mediate cases on their merits. In addition, she is not biased against anyone, having represented gay, lesbian and straight clients in divorce and family law matters.

If you are looking for a fair and impartial mediator who has an excellent understanding of family law issues and divorce matters, then contact acting mediator Leslie Howell to discuss our mediation services. For more information on mediation, visit our Resource Links page

Why Should You Choose to Mediate Your Family Law or Divorce Matter?

Mediation does not work 100% of the time, but can reduce costs and time in a litigated matter. Often, a case can be resolved amicably when neither party or attorney thought it was possible. If you are ready to move on with your life and would like to resolve your divorce or family law matter in a respectful, efficient and cost effective manner, then mediation may be right for you.

In addition to being faster and a much more economical alternative to litigation, mediation is also less stressful and affords you greater control of your future. In mediation, it is you who will shape the outcome of your family law and divorce matter such as child custody and visitation, rather than a stranger (judge) who has neither the time nor the resources to understand you and your children the way that you do. Only you really know what is best for you and your children.

If you and your spouse are interested in mediation, both of you should contact the Law Offices of Howell & Howell together so that we can mediate to facilitate the settlement of your case. If you call our office for a consultation without letting us know you want to mediate, it may be impossible for us to mediate your case due to a conflict of interest. Therefore, please let us know if you are considering mediation as an option.

Whether you want representation in mediation or are seeking a mediator for a family law and divorce issue, Howell & Howell can provide you with experienced, professional assistance.
